About Me

I have always been drawn to both music and art. As a child, nothing could get me more excited than a brand new box of Crayolas! I was inspired by my mother’s artwork in creative design and ceramics and enjoyed the art classes I attended as a child.

After a career as a music educator in the Three Village School District, I returned to my love of art when I discovered pastels. I delight in the mediums flexibility and the vibrancy of the colors. Such wonderful artists as MaryJane van Zeijts, Jane McGraw Teubner, Alain Picard, Karen Margulis, and Liz Heywood-Sullivan have all helped and inspired me on my artistic journey.

I am continually inspired by the light, shadows, colors, forms and perspectives I see around me. It is a joyous experience to capture these images and to ultimately have them achieve their own unique identity. When out walking, I draw my inspiration from the beauty and variety of the Long Island landscape. Some of my favorite local places, at any time of year, are the Frank Melville Park in Setauket, Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai and both Stony Brook harbor and West Meadow Beach.

My work has been featured in numerous local art shows and some pieces are on permanent display at Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson. In 2021 I was accepted as an Associate Member in the Pastel Society of America.
